Press Release: Konami announces “Silent Hill 8″
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today unveiled Silent Hill 8 (working title), the eighth installment of the Silent Hill franchise. Scheduled to launch in 2011 on the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Staying true to the franchise’s original roots, the game returns with another third person horror experience, and an all new thought provoking storyline. Players will once again find themselves face to face with their deepest sins and fears in the strange world of Silent Hill.
“In honoring the rich history and strong following of Silent Hill, we’re working hard to build a next generation horror game that the fans truly deserve,” said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “This Silent Hill introduces an all-new storyline and unique evolutions in gameplay, building on innovations and successes from over a decade of true survival horror and terror.”
The survival horror experience begins after a prison transport vehicle careens off the road, leaving lone inmate Murphy Pendleton stranded in Silent Hill. Gamers will encounter mind-bending puzzles, as well as horrific creatures and other world terrors using everyday objects from wooden chairs to glass bottles to fend off their enemies. The natural response, fight or flight is left to the player as they unravel a dark, thought-provoking storyline which will appeal to fans of the early, classic Silent Hill series, as well as anyone who enjoys a deep, psychological horror experience. In addition to the main storyline, players will also be presented with variable side quests along the way that can change depending on their play style, revealing unknown evils within the town.
Silent Hill 8 (working title) is scheduled to launch in 2011 on the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

E3 2010 Rumor: Sly Cooper, Patapon 3 & Twisted Metal X Coming To PS3
Remember that awesome God of War Collection for the PS3? The one that upgraded God of War I & II to HD and upped the frame rate?
Well, this isn’t about an Ico & Shadow of the Colossus collection, but it is damned close:
Sly Cooper might be back in an all new collection, and this time in (yawn) 3D!
We all pretty much knew about the Patapon thing, as even Sony has been touting it on their blog.
The other cool thing? The much rumored Twisted Metal X could be coming to the PS3 very soon.
Hopefully we will find out more tomorrow.

E3 2010: Do we really need another Monopoly game?
EA is bringing us another Monopoly game.
The board game, which has entertained and divided families for more than 75 years, has seen an iteration on just about every console ever put out (that survived long enough for people to enjoy it) including PC/Mac and mobile devices such as the iPhone and Ngage.
The question becomes: do we really need another one?
Right now on the PSN and XBL you can download classic Monopoly for $14.99 and play it with friends and family. I am sure most people could go to their closet and pull out the actual board game and enjoy a night with the family. If not, they can go to their local Wal*Mart or Target and get a physical version for about the same price as the digital one.
Throughout the many digital iterations of the game EA and other developers have always tried pushing out “updated” or “enhanced” versions of the game. Touting such additions as “house rules” and “street views” along with “dynamic play” and “come to life”.
Half of that stuff makes no sense to begin with and are just selling points. With the proliferation of the game throughout the world’s closets do we really need another version of the game, especially on a game console?
Let us know in the comments what you think. We tend to think that the answer is “no”. We enjoy the game just as much as the next person, even though after one game no one ever wants to play with us again because we are worse than Donald Trump playing the thing, but there comes a time where there is enough of a certain game to let it lie for a few years.
